THE ENGLISH GENTLEMAN

an exploration of british style and craftsmanship

Menu

The English Gentleman was a series of four events staged and produced by Anderson & Sheppard in association with the Woolmark Company and the world-renowned tailors of Savile Row and St James's.

This website is a celebration and documentation of these presentations, which took place at four historic London venues during the nascent seasons of London's menswear fashion week.

Each presentation was designed to focus on a different aspect of the DNA of British menswear, and to show how the artisans of Savile Row and St James's have fashioned the enduring tropes of contemporary menswear.

British GQ magazine's former creative fashion director, Jo Hambro, commissioned and styled each of the outfits, taking inspiration from the very different, quintessentially British venues in which the four presentations took place. Each bespoke collection of garments displayed not only the fine craftsmanship synonymous with Savile Row and St James's, but also the timeless style that British menswear has given to the world.
